In its third year of funding, the ASK Project will identify gaps in information in collaboration with the Mathematica's work: Translating Research Into Practice and gather information to assure that the population and community resources are representative of the overall population of the state. Through focus groups and/or structured interviews with families and caregivers of individuals with I/DD, the research will create categorical charts of issues and resources from the research by ages including identified life stories, quotations, pain points, and solutions. This information will be shared with the Mathematica team to develop roadmaps and personas to include scenarios, stories, and links to community resources for the forthcoming ASK web-based platform.
As part of a multi-year project, the NADD Research Team will build upon the findings of Years 1 and 2 of the ASK Research Project to complete additional research targeted at gaps identified in previously completed data collection, including underserved populations living in Florida. The research will continue to focus on identifying community resources used by family members of persons with I/DD, including the ways they identify and share information, assist each other with accessing key resources, refer people to useful resources, and utilize existing web-based platforms that support their role as a caregiver for a person with I/DD.
Individuals interested in participating may complete the online registration form for either a virtual interview or in-person focus group session.
